About Elsie

What is your go to self-care activity?

I love baking, going for a walk/run in the sun, or taking a bubble bath to boost my mood.

How has high school impacted your mental health?

While school has at times made my life quite stressful, it has also taught me the importance of managing my own mental health. I’ve learned that in order to learn and succeed in school, I need to take care of my own emotional and psychological health - I’ve found that giving myself a full night of solid sleep, for example, is WAY more worth it than the extra few hours of study time!

What's your favorite subject in school?

Social studies!

About Justin

My go-to self care activity is to FaceTime friends, play the guitar, or take a long shower.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

If I could travel anywhere in the world, I would travel to South Korea to eat a lot of Korean food and see my extended family.

What is your favorite movie?

My favorite movie is King Richard, which tells the inspiring tennis story of the Williams family.

About Ben

What is your go to self-care activity?

Something really important to maintaining my mental health has been managing my priorities. I feel like being able to put myself ahead of time constraints allows me to be more productive and function better.

What’s something that makes you smile?

The sun is something I love. Especially living in Seattle and getting it so infrequently I tend to cherish it when I get the chance.

What is your favorite movie?

My favorite movie has to be anything from the Star Wars Original Trilogy.

About Natalie

How has high school impacted your mental health?

High school, and the extracurriculars connected to it, offer a lot of fun activities for me to do in the day! But, I often feel stressed and mentally taxed with my workload, sports, and other outside of school activities.

What’s one way you boost your mood when you’re feeling down?

I love to grab fluffy blankets, make some mac and cheese and hot cocoa, and watch a new movie!

What’s something that makes you smile?

Random acts of kindness :)

About Phillip

What is one way you release stress?

I typically rely on exercise and practicing piano to release stress.

What do you like most about being on the Joon Student Advisory Board?

Honestly, being part of the Student Advisory Board honestly has challenged me to focus more on my own mental health, and the benefits have been huge.

How has high school impacted your mental health?

High school has connected me with so many people who have changed my life for the better, but social conflicts and the workload have, at times, pushed me to my limit. I've been forced to find effective means of managing stress!

About Elizabeth

Why is mental health important to you?

Mental health impacts everyone, whether they are aware or not. Due to the commonality I am passionate that people should have widespread and accessible care to improve their mental health, and as someone who has had issues with their mental health I would never want anyone to struggle or be blind to navigating it.

What’s one way you boost your mood when you’re feeling down?

Playing with my dog is always a go-to for a quick pick me up because his excitement and playfulness is quite infectious.

What is your favorite movie?

It definitely has to be both the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. I especially loved the beginning scene of the second movie because Baby Groot is in his own world, dancing around all the chaos, while finding his way around challenges and happily existing in his own world.

About Zoe

What is your go to self-care activity?

My go to self care activity is writing. I love any form, but my favorite kinds are journalism and poetry. Writing helps me get all my emotions out in a helpful, less stressful way, and aids in reflecting internally. I find that it is an amazing form of self-expression for me, and any chance to write, I’ll take!

What do you hope to accomplish with Joon's Student Advisory Board?

I hope to provide my input, as someone who has been through a mental health journey myself. I would love to have an impact on decisions so I can help others and positively help people in their journey.

What’s something that makes you smile?

Spending time with friends and watching bad movies is one of my favorite activities and always seems to put a smile on my face.
